BEAUTY DIY: Get Ready With Me Birthday Edition

Saturday was my birthday, so I met friends for dinner and dancing. Instead of my normal day makeup, I chose something more dramatic that I developed when I was in a band. Yeah, you read that right, I was a singer in a futuristic retro band for four years, and created lots of dramatic makeup looks, which you all might get to see from now on. I like to think of this makeup as futuristic pinup. Though it's also heavily inspired by drag queens.

I've been doing my makeup since I was 12 and have learned a lot since then thanks to the bevy of talented makeup artists on YouTubers. Primer is your friend. Also, I have a big container of brushes, mostly by ELF. That big foundation brush is by NYX and worth the money. I don't like the feeling of beauty blenders. I'm an artist, so a brush is always my go to "painting" tool. I only reused two tiny brushes for different products. So yeah, I have a lot of brushes. ELF brushes are about $1-$5 a piece and decent quality. Great for someone who is just starting out doing makeup, or like me does makeup maybe once a month. I don't need anything fancy, but soft and durable is great.

To see how I did this makeup, watch my Get Ready With Me Birthday Edition Goth Beauty Makeup video below. There's a full list of products I used below. I included links, but most of these products are available at Ulta stores or online. The NYX store is awesome if you can find one.

TUTORIAL:

See how I apply this makeup look in my Get Ready With Me Birthday Edition Goth Beauty Makeup video.

I'll likely do more makeup videos. Probably no hair ones, because I don't have much variety in how I style my hair. I just recolor it and try new colors, which you can see my new hair color product review here. You can certainly adapt this look with other colors, which I'll likely show you how to do on the rare occasion that I do wear makeup. Whatever you wear, have fun with it. Happy Makery!
