WOOD DIY: Chalkboard Checkerboard Game Tray and Pieces for Walnut Hollow

Over on Walnut Hollow, I made a Wood Chalkboard Checkerboard Game Tray and Pieces. I used a Walnut Hollow serving tray, Creative Versa Tool, Hot Stamps Letter Set, acrylic paint, Mod Podge Ultra Matte Chalk Finish, and Mod Podge Clear Chalkboard Topcoat. This game board can be used for multiple games, other than the obvious chess and checkers. The game board and pieces have a chalkboard coating, so they can be drawn on with chalk. I'm loving the clear chalkboard finish, that turns any surface into a chalkboard, eliminating the need for pre-mixed chalkboard paint. I used it over paint, but you could topcoat paper or other surfaces. If you're family is like mine, you'll get a lot of use out of it. I'm going to test it on a beach trip tomorrow with two tweens. I hope it keeps them entertained on the long car ride there. Head over to Walnut Hollow to learn how to make this project!

I'm a blogger and influencer with Walnut Hollow. This means I get paid to design projects using their products that they send me for free. Plaid Crafts provided me with the new Mod Podge formulas to use in projects, for free. They hold up to what they claim to be, which means I'll happily use them in projects. My dad cut and my daughter sanded the wood game pieces for me...but I don't think the FTC requires I disclose that part.
