CREATIVE CHALLENGES: DAY 7 - Favorite Children's Book

For the 7th day of the 30 day drawing challenge, on Creative Challenges, the theme was "Favorite Children's Book". I have a few favorites, but picked a favorite that most people wouldn't automatically relate to me. I chose Pippi Longstocking, which is a series of Swedish books. I haven't read the books, but I have watched the movies and cartoons many times. They are childhood favorites. This challenge also meant I'd have to include her monkey Mr. Nilsson, and horse. I drew this in pencil, inked it, and colored it with colored pencils. If you are familiar with the story, then you will recognize the elements I included. I used reference photos of real animals for the monkey and horse. I rarely draw animals, but I enjoy the challenge of unfamiliar objects. I love using colored pencils, so I had fun blending colors together. My mom likes this so much, that she wants a copy to hang in my old room at their house, which now my daughter's room when visiting. Oh and if you've been following this blog for a while, you know my grey cat's name is Pippilotta Longtail, which is of course after this character Pippilotta Longstocking.
