NYC FASHION WEEK F/W 2013: Jill Stuart

Jill Stuart's Fall Winter 2013/2014 collection is filled with great textures and prints in structured shapes that give the collection a very dark romantic gothic vibe. This collection looks ready for a fancy party, with plenty of special dresses for the affair. The fabrics are sensuous, ranging from laser cut velvets, laces, dark florals, chiffons, and satins. Though the chiffon dresses seem to have proper linings omitted from the bodices, overall the collection is rather covered, which is appropriate for the cold weather of Fall and Winter.

Of all these luxurious outfits, I have a couple favorites. I like the 5th look which is a dress that mixes lace and iridescent fabrics. I like the structure of the dress that works well with the two fabrics. There is a very playful girlish style, but the lux fabrics make it feel grown up in a way. I also like the 16th look, a black and cream striped dress. I'm a huge fan of stripes. I love how the stripes have been played with in an unexpected way. Stripes don't work on all body types, but the angled placement of this fabric, might work well. Overall, I really like this collection.
