MILAN FASHION WEEK S/S 2013: Luisa Beccaria

Luisa Beccaria took her inspiration from Salvador da Bahia in Brazil, for her Spring Summer 2013 Collection. I love the abundant feminine flowing dresses. The white ones are reminiscent of the costumes for the Candomble ceremony. The floral and striped fabrics remind me of vintage luxury hotel bedding, but in a good way. Here in Virginia, our summers get hot and stick, and thick with mosquitoes. I love wearing long light weight maxi dresses, because they cover my legs, to deter bugs, and also prevent sunburn. They also can transition easily from day to night, vs. their shorter counterparts. The knee length dresses are great for work (if you have a non-suit or uniform required job), and for nicer casual wear too. I've selected a few pieces to share with you, but to see the full show, watch the video at the bottom of this post.

Of all these fabulous pieces, my favorites are the 1st dress in a flowing white eyelet fabric, with 3 flared tiers. This is a nice piece that would work for sticky hot days, because white fabric reflects light, which helps cool the body. Also, you can easily throw on a pretty cardigan or jacket if the day  or night is chilly. My next favorite is the 8th look, with the tailored pink tuxedo style shirt, and a matching pink patterned flared skirt. This is a nice polished casual look that can transition into Fall and Winter, with the addition of tights and a cardigan. I love how the front placket ruffle of the shirt compliments the detailed pattern of the skirt. My last favorite is the 25th look. I love the wide ruffle collar that can easily slip down off the shoulders. It's a nice cut and style of dress that can be dressed up or down, depending on what you're doing. The wide ruffled collar reminds me of several great Mexican blouses that I have. I love all of these pieces. Yet again, another collection that can be incorporated to my wardrobe easily.
