NYC FASHION WEEK S/S 2013: Skaist-Taylor

For Skaist-Taylor's Spring Summer 2013 Collection, they wanted to create easy pieces that can be worn no matter how you feel that day. Pieces that make you feel comfortable and pretty, any day. I love the eclectic variety of pieces. Reminds me of how I get ready some days...grab pretty pieces and put them together. Works best when the pieces are similar colors or neutrals...usually neutrals with the occasional pop of color. The boots featured in very look, are fabulous. I need a pair of these, but close toed! Of all the great pieces (though all of them could easily work in my unusual wardrobe), my favorites are the 1st look, with the black and white detailed pieces, that look fabulous together. The overall white ensemble helps balance out the starkness of the black details, and the red in the necklace. The 4th look is a great take on a deconstructed suit. Most work places don't allow shorts, but these tailored suit like shorts would fit in nicely. Of course, my job is unconventional, so wearing this when meeting with people would work fine. I love the black ruffled top with the tailored menswear like suiting pieces. I'm not normally a shorts person, but I love the shorts in the 6th look. They are tailored and basic black, which works great for many outfits. I see this outfit working well for early Spring, where the mornings are cool, and the afternoons warmer. Pretty cardigans are great for layering. They can easily be taken off and stored in a tote bag when not being used. They can be layered over pretty blouses, to give add warmth to delicate fabrics. The multiple casual dresses are great pieces to just throw on. They are effortless because they are so beautiful themselves. Throw on a great pair of shoes, and a piece of jewelry, and your ready to go! Overall, the collection achieves what it was set to do, create a wardrobe of easy to wear pieces, great for any eclectic gal on the go.
