NYC FASHION WEEK S/S 2013: Jill Stuart

Jill Stuart's Spring Summer 2013 collection is another great showing of laces, brocades, chiffons, and neutrals. Lace, chiffon, and brocade fabrics always lend themselves to vintage inspired garments. By keeping the color story neutral, in tones of black, cream, whites, tans, and antique golds, it's doesn't have a  literal vintage look. Of all the looks, my favorites are the 5th look with the sheer puffed sleeve cropped top paired with the high waisted brocade skirt. I love the volume of the sleeves and use of the chiffon. The brocade skirt grounds the airiness of the top. I love the 14th look, which is a peachy tan neutral chiffon gown. It has a 40s siren feel to it, while being slightly toned down by the color choice. Of all the pieces, the silver sequined gown didn't quite fit in, but sometimes you need a glimmering disco ball dress in a sea of neutrals.
