MADRID FASHION WEEK S/S 2013: Agatha Ruiz de la Prada

Sometimes fashion is created for pure fun and whimsy. Agatha Ruiz de la Prada's Spring Summer 2013 collection for Madrid Fashion Week, is just that. Is it art, or fashion...or both. Her creations for this collection are a departure from her normally very wearable creations. This collection has a lot of latex, vinyl, and PVC, which are not warm weather friendly fabrics. The images I'm sharing are my favorite pieces from the collection, but to see the full collection in action, watch the video at the bottom of this post. Of all these selected pieces, my ultimate favorites for whimsy are the 6th look which reminds me of spaghetti and meatballs. I could see this as an amusing burlesque costume. Just think of how hilariously sexy it would be see a performer strip by unwinding the noodles. My other ultimate favorite the 7th look which is an umbrella dress with puffy rain clouds. This reminds me of a costume for some odd school play. Structurally, I love the shape of the umbrella part. I could play with that construction and make a great League of Space Pirates costume. However you feel about the wearability of this collection, you have to admit that's is pure imaginative fun.
